Despite the name of this recipe, it's so easy you could make it any time of year, not just for holidays. It's a bit different, in that I've never added carrots before, but why not? The crunchy onions on top give it more texture. I also added sage for flavor.

  • 1/2 c
    (1 stick) butter
  • 1-1/2 c
    chopped celery
  • 1-1/2 c
    chopped carrots
  • 1 pkg
    (14 oz.) stuffing
  • 1 can(s)
    (14.5 oz.) chicken broth
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 tsp
    dried sage
  • 2 c
    french fried onions

How to Make CRUNCHY HOLIDAY STUFFING

Step-by-Step

  1. Melt butter in a large pot. Stir in vegetables and saute for 5 minutes.
  2. Add stuffing, broth, and water; stir until moistened. Gently stir in 1 cup onions and the sage. Spoon stuffing into 3-qt. baking dish.
  3. Cover and bake in a preheated 350º oven for 20 minutes. Uncover, sprinkle with remaining onions, and bake 5 minutes more or until onions are golden.
