forbidden rice with a twist
Needed to try something different so as I was wandering aimlessly through the grocery store I found this black rice and said what the heck, let's see what I can come up with. The squeeze of fresh lemon on top just makes this pop. The photo actually shows a complete meal. I will post the shrimp recipe also.

Ingredients
- 1 cup forbidden black rice
- 1 1/2 cups vegetable broth
- 1/2 cup sake
- 20 - saffron strands
- 1 - onions, vidalia, diced
- 1/2 pound baby bella mushrooms sliced
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 2 tablespoons butter unsalted
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- - salt and pepper
- 1 - lemon
How To Make forbidden rice with a twist

Step 1Sauté onion, garlic, and baby portobello mushrooms in butter and olive oil until soft

Step 2Add rice and sauté 5 minutes to coat rice

Step 3Add stock,salt, pepper, saffron and sake simmer until liquid is absorbed. About 40 minutes

Step 4Squeeze fresh lemon on servings
