This is yet another recipe from my mom's kitchen that was passed down through the family. Even though it is a Pesach recipe, it can be served as a great side dish.

Ingredients

  • 6 sheets matzo
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 5 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 3 - 4 large granny smith apples
  • 3/4 cup raisins
  • 2 tablespoons butter, cut into bits

How To Make momma dee's apple kugel

  • Step 1
NOTE: This recipe is kosher for Pesach. It can be served hot or cold, as a side dish or as dessert.
  • Step 2
Break matzo into small pieces and soak in water until soft. Drain, but DO NOT SQUEEZE dry.
  • Step 3
Beat the eggs. Add salt, sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Add matzo.
  • Step 4
Fold in nuts, apples, and raisins. Pour batter into a glass baking dish (for best results). Dot top of kugel with butter bits.
