Ingredients
- 1 - 1 pound loaf country style bread, cut inyo 1/2" cubes
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 large onions, finley chopped
- 2 - celery ribs, with some leaves, finely chopped
- 2 large granny smith apples, cored and diced
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- - salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup dried cranberries
- 1/3 cup minced parsley
- 1-1/2 cup lower-sodium chicken broth, heated
How To Make apple and cranberry stuffing

Step 1Heat oven to 325. Spread bread on 2 jelly-roll pans. Bake, stirring a couple of times, for about 20 mins. Reserve. Spray a 4-quart baking dish w/ cooking spray. In lg skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tbsp butter. Add onions and celery. Saute, stirring, untill softened, about 10 mins. Transfer to lg bowl.

Step 2Return skillet to medium heat, add 1 tbsp butter. Add apples, saute until glazed and brown. Add apples to onion mix. Stir in sage, thyme and nutmeg. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Step 3In same skillet, melt remaining butter over medium heat. Stir in cranberries, parsley and reserved bread. Add to apple mix, toss to blend. Moisten w/ broth, 1/2 cup at a time, stirring to mix. Transfer stuffing to baking dish. Cover lightly w/ foil, bake 40 mins. Uncover and bake about 20 mins, or until browned and crisp on top.
