sauce essentials: yummy parsley/lemon/dill sauce

This is an excellent sauce to serve with most any type of fish, and it makes an excellent spread for a yummy fish sandwich. For the best flavor, combine all of the ingredients, and then store in the fridge for a few hours, or overnight. That will give the ingredients a chance to know each other. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise, plain variety
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon dill pickle relish
  • 1 teaspoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • - white pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • - salt, kosher variety, to taste
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

    PREP/PREPARE

    Gather Your Ingredients (mise en place).
  • Step 3
    Add all of the ingredients to a bowl.
  • Step 4
    Chef's Tip: To keep the sauce/spread from getting too thin, squeeze out most of the juice from the pickle relish.
  • Step 5
    Mix together, and then test for proper seasoning.
  • Step 6
    Chef’s Tip: Obviously, the mayonnaise is the main ingredient in this sauce/spread, so pick one that you realty like. If stored in a sealed container in the fridge it should last 7 to 10 days.

    Chef’s Note: If you want this sauce vegan, then substitute the mayonnaise with an equal amount of Vegenaise.
