After dining at a family-owned Mexican restaurant, I realized just how nasty envelopes of taco seasoning actually were and I never bought them again. It's so easy to make your own Mexican seasoning using ingredients you already have. This is a base recipe which is wonderful because you can adjust the salt, heat and spices to give you a customized seasoning made just for your family. My recipe does not have a lot of heat.( preference.) Adjust chili powder or add a pinch of red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper to crank that up, if you wish.
