Had frozen manicotti to make for dinner last night. Oops no marinara or meat sauce in freezer. Simmering these few ingredients worked out so well, I'm going to be making my marinara this way for now on! Great for low sodium diet.

Ingredients

  • 1 - 28oz can san marzano crushed tomatoes
  • 1 - lg onion peeled and quartered
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • - garish w/parm or fresh basil or oregano (or all)

How To Make one hour 4 ingredient sauce

  • Step 1
    Pot all ingredients (except garnish)in Saucepan. Simmer on low for 1 hour. Stirring occasionally. After one hour remove onion. (can chop onion and add back if You prefer) Garnish with parmesan or favorite italian herb.
  • Step 2
    Enjoy over pasta, manicotti, even pizza!
