This outstanding condiment is so versatile. It can be used to enhance dishes and is also a great substitute for balsamic vinegar. This is definitely a must have for any kitchen!

method Stove Top
yield 1 cup

Ingredients

  • 4 cups pomegranate juice, bottled or fresh
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

How To Make pomegranate molasses

  • Step 1
In a 4-quart pot over medium-high, combine all the ingredients. Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce heat to medium-low or medium as long as the mixture is gently simmering for about 1 hour or until it has a “syrupy” consistency, coating the back of the spoon.
  • Step 2
Transfer to an airtight container and let it cool completely before closing (the molasses will thicken as it cool off).
