marinara sauce

Once again I ventured away from the traditional sauce with my marinara. The rough chop style of bell pepper adds texture your fork can grab onto providing what I say is an overall satisfying sauce. Everyone who has tasted it seems to love it and asks for more.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil, extra virgin
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 2 cans italian stewed tomatoes
  • 6 ounces tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 tablespoon basil, dried
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 cup white wine
  • 2 cups chopped red bell pepper

How To Make marinara sauce

  • Step 1
    Heat Olive oil into large stainless steel pot on low. Mince onions, rough chop bell pepper, mince the garlic. Cook on low until onions are slightly translucent.
  • Step 2
    Add tomato sauce, tomato paste heat on simmer. Sprinkle seasonings of Basil, salt & pepper, oregano.
  • Step 3
    During final 15 minutes add white wine. Serve over pasta with Garlic bread.
