This is so good! I've been making this for years! It's a very basic recipe, and I'm sure I'm not the only one to make applesauce this way. We love it! (Lately, I've been using less cinnamon in my recipe, I've cut back to 1/4 tsp, it's even delicious without it too!)

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds mcintosh apples
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • - cinnamon (1/8 tsp, up to 1 tsp)

How To Make homemade applesauce

  • Sliced apples, with sugar, cinnamon, and water.
    Step 1
Peel, seed, and slice the apples. Place in a saucepan with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Step 2
Bring to a boil. Lower heat, cover and simmer for about 20 to 30 minutes, or until desired consistency.
  • Applesauce just mashed.
    Step 3
We like ours a little on the chunky side, so I mash a bit with the potato masher. Enjoy!!!
  • Step 4
(This was really the best when we picked the apples right off our own apple tree!)
