homemade cool whip
What a great recipe e-mailed to me, from my sister in Michigan.She got it from a friend where she works who got it from the internet. I checked it out and it is almost the same as in my Knox recipe book from Mrs. Knox booklet "Food Economy" only she calls it Marshmallow cream. 1930's. Here it is see if you like it.

Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon knox unflavored gelatin
- 2 teaspoons cold water
- 3 tablespoons boiling water
- 1/2 cup ice water
- 1/2 cup powdered nonfat dry milk
- 3 to 4 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon clear vanilla
How To Make homemade cool whip

Step 1Chill a small metal mixing bowl in the freezer for 10 minutes. In a small bowl soften the gelatin in the ice water. Add boiling water to this mixture and mix until dissolved. Set aside to cool.

Step 2Remove the frozen metal bowl from the freezer. Combine the powdered milk and ice water in the metal bowl. Beat on high until stiff peaks form. Add the sugar 1 tablespoon at a time, until as sweet as you want it to be.Then add the gelatin mixture.And beat well until mixture is as thick as you want it.

Step 3Chill in the freezer for 10 minutes,then place in the refrigerator until ready to use. Whip with a wire whisk just until creamy before using. Enjoy!
