Blue Ribbon Recipe

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
This is a really simple fruit salad spotlighting more citrusy flavors. The sauce is really thin and the perfect balance of sweetness with a touch of savoriness. Even though it is really thin, it still coats the fruit and leaves a nice flavor. We loved the combination of fruits - not one fruit overpowers another. The sauce does pool at the bottom of the bowl so make sure to give it a good stir before serving.

Ingredients

1
banana, sliced
1
apples, golden delicious, sliced
1
orange, peeled and sliced
1 c
purple grapes, halved
1 c
strawberries and/or kiwis, sliced
1 small
lemon, juiced
1
small can pineapple tidbits, drained; reserve juice

SAUCE

1 pinch
sugar
reserved pineapple juice
1 Tbsp
mayonnaise

Step-By-Step

1Mix all of the fruit in a medium bowl.
2Pour lemon juice over them; set aside.
3In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise and sugar; stir well. Add pineapple juice a little at a time. The sauce should be a little thin, but not runny.
4Pour sauce over fruit; stir well. Cover bowl with plastic wrap. Chill salad and remove right before you're ready to eat (within 30 mins.- 1 hour or the bananas will go brown). Enjoy!
