this recipe was given to our mother by her third grade teacher over 100 yrs ago and has always been a part of our holiday dinner.it makes a large amount she raised 13 children and when she cooked she made large amounts mom has been gone for over 10yrs now but we all still make her salad with fond memories of what a good cook she was.

Ingredients

  • 5-3oz. box
    jello 1ea. of 5 flavers black cherry,lime,strawberry.lemon and orange
  • 1- 16oz. can(s)
    pinapple tidbits drained
  • 2- 16oz. can(s)
    fruit cocktail, canned drained
  • 1 c
    marshineo cherries halved
  • 2 large
    bananas sliced
  • 2 medium
    apples diced
  • 1 c
    coarsley chopped walnuts
  • 1 pt
    heavey whipping cream whipped

How to Make Bessie's holiday fruit salad

Step-by-Step

  1. mix jello as directed except only add 1/2 cup cold water. pour into 5 deffernt shallow containers cover and let set overnight.nextday cut into small squares and place into a large bowl add fruit and nuts just before serving add whipped cream and fold all togeather.
