Who doesn't like the juice that drips from a taco onto plate and likes to slather it up. Well these are those tacos. These are American Taco Beans and they are delicious and that juice on the plate will make you want more. I love all kinds of tacos whether they are authentic or not and these I have to say are the best American tacos I have ever had. The beans and chunks of ground beef are so satisfying with a juicy sauce that drips onto the plate. Just fry up some corn tortilla's and add your favorite American toppings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound pinto beans soaked overnight
  • 2-3 cloves fresh garlic
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1 teaspoon cilantro, dried optional
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1/2 - of a chopped yellow onion
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 8 ounces can of tomato sauce
  • 1 pound raw ground beef crumbled
  • 1 tablespoon salt to taste

How To Make american taco beans

  • Step 1
Rinse the soaked beans and put them back into the pot and cover with water about 2 inches above the beans. Add Fresh Garlic, Oregano, Chili Powder, Cilantro. Cover and cook for about an hour on the stove top or 20 minutes in the pressure cooker. I use a pressure cooker. *Do not add salt until the end when the beans are soft* Step 3.
  • Step 2
Now add the onion, pepper, garlic powder and tomato sauce cover and cook until the beans are soft about another 30-40 minutes or longer. You must have the lid on the pot if you want your beans to cook right or they stay hard. *Note: You might need to add 1 1/2 cups water that you will cook down later.
  • Step 3
When the beans are soft add the crumbled ground beef & salt and cook another 15-20 minutes. Add more salt to taste. Make sure you cook the water down by uncovering the pot, to where it's even with the beans and meat like the photo. That is when it is really flavorful.
  • Step 4
Serve on fried corn tortillas with tomato, onion, cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce and green La Victoria Hot Sauce. *Chef Tip* When making your taco put the cheese on first before a spoonful of the taco beans it acts like a blanket protecting the shell from the juices under the hot beans and you can then eat juicy tacos. Delish!
