Thanksgiving is in your rearview mirror, and you’re left with a bunch of leftovers. So, what do you do? How about easy/peasy turkey morsels with some gravy for dipping. I thought I would make this French Bread Sammie, using leftovers. Actually, this is my day-after-Thanksgiving go-to recipe for lunch or a light dinner. So, you ready… Let’s get into the kitchen.

Ingredients

  • PLAN/PURCHASE
  • 1 large french loaf, freshly baked, if possible
  • - salt, kosher variety, to taste
  • - black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • 1 pound turkey, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons cranberry sauce
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 3-4 slices provolone
  • ADDITIONAL ITEMS
  • - gravy, for dipping

    PREP/PREPARE
  • Step 2
    Gather Your Ingredients.
  • Step 3
    Place a rack in the bottom position, and preheat the oven to 375f (190c).
  • Step 4
    Cut the French loaf in half, and scoop out the center, to make a boat.
  • Step 5
    Line the bottom of the bread with the provolone.
  • Step 6
    Brush with the cranberry sauce.
  • Step 7
    Add the chopped turkey.
  • Step 8
    Season with some salt & pepper.
  • Step 9
    Add the shredded Gruyere to the top.
  • Step 10
    Place in the preheated oven, and bake until the cheese gets nice and bubbly.

    PLATE/PRESENT
  • Step 12
    Thickly slice and serve with the warm gravy. Enjoy
