I remember waking up in the morning to the smell of this delicious soup 40 years ago. Mom would put all of the ingredients in the slow cooker the night before and it was a marvelous thing to wake up to on a snowy, northern morning. Put it on in the morning before you go to work and the incredible aroma will meet you at the door at the end of the day year round.
