My dad taught me how to make a subtle yet delicious tomato cream sauce for pasta. You can use any pasta, I like it with ziti.

Ingredients

2 Tbsp
olive oil, extra virgin
1
onion, diced
1 tsp
minced garlic
1
14.5 oz can italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
1 Tbsp
dried basil
3/4 tsp
sugar
1/4 tsp
dried oregano
1/4 tsp
each, salt and pepper
1/2 c
light cream
1 Tbsp
butter
12 oz
ziti pasta or other pasta

How to Make Tangy tomato cream sauce w/ ziti

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cook pasta as directed and drain. return to pot. In saucepan, saute onion and garlic in oil over medium heat.
  • 2Add tomatoes, basil, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil. Boil gently for 15 mins.. Remove from heat. Stir in light cream and butter.
  • 3Pour sauce over pasta, toss to coat evenly.
