HOME MADE COMFORT FOOD.. good for the soul! Stuffed peppers is like having a meatloaf! But theyre cute! you can also Make a mixture of the meat onion chopped pepper and tomato sauce and stuff it into the shell and bake it from the raw meat out.. but I like the sauting for extra flavor.. So basically you cant do this wrong. This one pound meat recipe is good for four Green peppers so if you want to make more. I would presume 1 lb of ground beef per four pepper shells. Delish! Serve with rice or bread to slop up the tomato sauce yummmmmy and good for you too! Pam Toll

Ingredients For homemade stuffed peppers w beef

  • 1 md
    onion
  • 4 md
    green peppers
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 pinch
    salt and pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1 jar
    tomato sauce thick
  • 1 tsp
    each of basil, garlic, rosemary, thyme and any italian mixed herbs
  • 1/2 CUP OF WINE TO COOK OR SHERRY
  • CLEAN AND CORE GREEN PEPPERS CUTTING IN HALF N LEAVING A SHELL EMPTY. THIS IS FOR FOUR PLACE IN A SMALL 8X8 OR 9X 13 PAN WITH SOME OLIVE OIL ON THE BOTTOM. CHOP THE TOP HALF OF THE GREEN PEPPERS AND THROW INTO THE SAUTE PAN WITH ONIONS HERBS N BEEF
  • IN A PAN W OLIVE OIL SAUTE ONIONS HERBS SALT N PEPPER WINE AND THEN ADD GROUND BEEF.. BROWN LITELY. DRAIN PAN OFF , POUR SOME SAUCE INTO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR BAKING PAN AND STUFF THE HALF OF GREEN PEPPER WITH THE SAUTE ADD TOMATO SAUCE TO THE MIXTURE
  • STUFF THE PEPPERS WITH THE SAUTE INTO THE BOTTOM HALF OF THE PEPPER SHELL AND TOP WITH TOMATO SAUCE THEN AFTER YOU PLACE THEM BACK IN THE BAKING PAN. COVER WITH THE REMAINING TOMATO SAUCE.
  • BAKE AT 375 OVEN FOR ABOUT 35-40 MINUTES BASTE THE SAUCE OVER THE PEPPERS A FEW TIMES DURING THE BAKING PROCESS. TAKE OUT. SERVE WITH RICE OR A THICK CUT PIECE OF FRESH BREAD. DELICIOUS!

  • THROW THE STEWED TOMATOES INTO THE SAUTE AND KEEP IT "WET ITS GREAT SAUCE DURING THE BAKING .. AND FOR SURE FOR EATING!

    CHOP SAUTE STUFF BAKE AT 375 for 35-40 minutes TOP OFF WITH PARMESEAN CHEESE OR YOUR FAV CHEESE. YUMMMY.. COMFORT FOOD
