Ingredients
- 1 large cabbage, cut into bite size pieces
- 1 lb beef stewing meat, cut into bite size pieces
- 1 large sweet onion, chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoons sweet paprika
- 4 - 6 teaspoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon white pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 - 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 large bay leaf
How To Make cabbage stew
-
Step 1Put your cut cabbage into a bowl of boiling water for 10 - 15 minutes to soften. Drain and set aside until ready to use.
-
Step 2In a large pot, add oil and put on low heat. Add the meat, cover the pot and cook 30 - 35 minutes, until cooked.
-
Step 3Now add the onion, tomato paste, olive oil, paprika, pepper and chili flakes; stir for 2 or 3 minutes. Next add the cabbage and bay leaf, then pour in just enough water to covers the cabbage. Turn the heat to medium and bring to a boil, season with salt and simmer for 2 hours.
-
Step 4When ready to serve, throw out the bay leaf. Serve in bowls with lots of fresh buttered or oiled crusty bread.
