Not your average chili! Not only is this a healthy version, it is super-packed with sweet and hot flavors, so much that you won't even tell that it is "healthy"! Definitely an up-scale chili. :)

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 pound turkey sausage (casings removed)
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 - orange bell pepper, medium size
  • 1 - small yellow onion, diced
  • 5 - scallion stalks, diced
  • 1 can chili beans, no sodium or low sodium (14.5 oz)
  • 2 cans diced tomatoes, no sodium or low sodium (14.5 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (or more if you like it very spicy)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sweet red wine

How To Make it's never too chili for love!

  • Step 1
    In dutch oven or large pot, melt coconut oil. Add meat. Brown over medium-high heat for about 7 minutes, stirring often.
  • Step 2
    Add bell pepper and scallions. Stir and continue over medium-high heat for 7 minutes.
  • Step 3
    Add all spices. Stir and continue on medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.
  • Step 4
    Add tomatoes and beans (no need to drain cans), and wine. Stir. Lower heat and cover pot. Let this simmer for 40 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
  • Step 5
    Taste and adjust spicing to your liking. Enjoy!
