This is a quick easy dinner that is at lest a little healthier than regular egg rolls. DH and I both agree this did not taste quite like an egg roll but was really good and something we wanted to enjoy again and thus the reason I am posting here. The original recipe comes from Gluten free make over https://glutenfreemakeover.wordpress.com/2014/04/16/egg-roll-in-a-bowl-a-trim-healthy-mama-s-meal/

prep time 5 Min
cook time 25 Min
method Stove Top
yield 4 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground hot italian sausage (can use regular ground sausage but will have less flavor)
  • 1 package coleslaw mix (16 ounces)
  • 3 - celery ribs, chopped
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 3 - garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 3 tablespoons tamari sauce
  • 1-2 teaspoon rice vinegar, i used a tablespoon

How To Make egg roll in a bowl

Cook the ground pork until done and remove from pan, leaving the drippings.
  • Step 2
Add onions, garlic and celery to the pan and saute until nearly cooked through.
  • Step 3
Add the coleslaw mix and continue to cook about 15 minutes, then mix in cooked ground pork.

**This is also nicely complimented with some Sriracha sauce. It gives it a nice kick!
