This has been sitting in my recipe file for decades and I don't think I've made it since before my husband passed. It's an easy dish to make and fills you up and tastes good too. Good if you're on a budget. 07-16-14

Ingredients

  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped fine
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • - salt and pepper to taste

How To Make pasta & ground beef casserole

  • Step 1
    Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.
  • Step 2
    Place butter in a large skillet. Add onion and celery and cook slightly (5 minutes--do not brown) over medium-low heat. Add ground beef and fry until browned. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in tomato sauce and simmer, covered, until heated through.
  • Step 3
    Pour the hot meat sauce over the macaroni and serve immediately.
