beefy sour cream noodle bake

I found this recipe a long time ago online and it reminds me of a goulash I have made for years, though I haven't tried it yet. This dish is satisfying, easy and inexpensive. Photo: 03-04-15

Ingredients For beefy sour cream noodle bake

  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 can
    (15 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    seasoned salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 8 oz
    egg noodles
  • 1/2 c
    sour cream
  • 1-1/4 c
    small curd cottage cheese
  • 1/2 c
    green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 c
    shredded sharp cheddar cheese

How To Make beefy sour cream noodle bake

    In a large skillet, brown the ground beef until cooked; drain. Stir in tomato sauce, salt, pepper, seasoned salt and garlic powder. Simmer on low until ready to combine in casserole.

    Cook egg noodles according to package directions; drain. In a large bowl, combine sour cream, cottage cheese, green onions, garlic salt and pepper. Add cooked noodles and combine.

    In a greased 13x9" baking dish, assemble in layers: 1/2 of noodle mixture, 1/2 of meat mixture, 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar; repeat all three layers.

    Bake in a preheated 350º oven for 25 minutes until cheese is melted and heated through.
