THIS IS THE WAY MY MOM USED TO MAKE BEEF STEW (with the exception of the red wine...I LOVE RED WINE IN MY COOKN SO I ADD IT IN ;) ....ANOTHER DIMENSION OF FLAVA...DELICIOUS ALONE OR SERVD ON RICE.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef stew meat (i had 1 lb 1 1/2 better :)
  • 1 large onion, chopd
  • 1 1/2 cups flour...seasond with 1 tsp each salt blk pepper n garlic powdr
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeld n diced 1-2 "
  • 1 large carrot, chopd
  • 1 stalk celery , slicd 1" pieces
  • 1 can tomatoes, diced 14 oz
  • 1 can tomato sauce ...sml can
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1/2 cup beef or chicken broth
  • - a few sprigs of thyme

How To Make moms thick old thymey beef stew

  • Step 1
    DREDGE BEEF CUBES IN SEASOND FLOUR ....BROWN IN VEG OIL THEN ADD CHOPD ONION SAUTE TILL ONIONS R TENDER....DEGLAZE WITH RED WINE COOK FOR A MIN OR TWO
  • Step 2
    ADD POTATOES, CARROTS, CELERY, THYME, CHOPD TOMATOES ,TOMATO SAUCE AND BROTH.
  • Step 3
    STIR MIXTURE, COVER N SIMMER FOR 2 HOURS....STIRRING OCCASIONALLY :)
  • Step 4
    REMOVE THYME STEMS N SEASON WITH S n P. TO TASTE. SERVE ON RICE IF DESIRED OR JUST SERVE WITH FORK....ENJOY ;)
