Swiss steak has long been one of my favorites, but there are so many variations of it. Some I like better than others. This particular recipe has everything I like in a Swiss steak, and I tweaked it just a bit to include onion. Enjoy! Recipe & photo: kraftrecipes.com 10-21-14

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup kraft zesty italian dressing
- 1 pound boneless beef steak, cut into 4 pieces
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup tomato paste
- 1 can (14.5 oz.) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1 - green pepper, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cups hot mashed potatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded swiss cheese
How To Make slow cooker saucy swiss steak

Step 1In a large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat, heat dressing. Meanwhile, coat meat with flour; gently shake off excess. Add meat to skillet; cook 3 minutes on each side or until evenly browned on both sides. Remove from heat.

Step 2Combine tomato paste, tomatoes, and broth in the slow cooker. Add meat, peppers and onions; cover with lid. Cook on LOW for 8 to 10 hours (or on HIGH for 4 hours).

Step 3Serve over mashed potatoes and top with cheese if desired.
