This recipe started off with me tinkering in the kitchen trying to make my own signature sauce. Cause lets face it this has no chemicles or preservatives like store sauce plus most ingredients you have already so doesn't cost nearly as much as store bought. And I'm a penny pincher always looking for a deal or cheaper way to make something. Am I cheap?? No. I'm frugal

yield 8 nice size chicken leg quarters.

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle ketchup
  • 1/4 cup dark corn syrup
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 3 teaspoons liquid smoke flavoring
  • 2 large bay leaves
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil, extra virgin

How To Make troy's lip smacken b.b.q sauce

  • Step 1
    Dice onion and garlic cloves
  • Step 2
    Heat olive oil in medium sauce pot over medium heat
  • Step 3
    Add onion and garlic to hot oil saute for about 3 minutes or until onion is translucent.
  • Step 4
    Add remaining ingredients bring to a boil reduce to a simmer. Cook for 1 hour stirring occasionally. Remove bay leaves when done and slather on anything you want. This is a very versatile sause.
  • Step 5
    If you would like honey barbeque sauce wait till finished cooking and remove from heat and add Honey.
