This Spamburger is a quick, easy, and tasty sandwich that the kids think is a gourmet meal. During the Second World War, Spam was often the only meat available in Hawaii. The people there made the best of of what they could get and they developed numerous recipes that utilized Spam as the featured ingredient. Even today Spam is an important item in the diet of the Hawaiian people. More Spam is eaten per person there than anywhere else in the United States.

Ingredients
- 1 slice spam (3x1/4")
- 1 hamburger bun
- mayonnaise, to taste
- 1 lettuce leaf
- 1 slice tomato
- 1 slice cheese
- pickles
How To Make spamburger

Step 1Slice the spam into 3x1/4" slices, one slice for each spamburger.

Step 2For added taste, toast the bun with butter or olive oil.

Step 3Brown the spam in a skillet. When you turn the slice of spam over add the cheese so it will melt a bit.

Step 4Spread mayonnaise on each side of the bun.

Step 5Put together each spamburger with layers of lettuce, tomato, spam, cheese, and pickles.
