    ground beef
  • 1 lb
    ground lamb
  • 4 lb
    potatoes, medium
  • 3 clove
  • 3
  • 1
  • 1 can(s)
  • 1 can(s)
  • 1/2 c
  • 12 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 1/8 c
    olive oil, extra virgin
  • 1/4 c
    worcestershire sauce

How to Make Shepherd's Pie


  1. Peel and cube potatoes and boil in a large pot about 20-25 minutes until soft
  2. Combine Ground beef and Ground Lamb (Use only ground beef if desired)
  3. Crush and mince garlic
  4. Shred carrots lengthwise
  5. Dice onions
  6. In a large frying pan add olive oil and garlic cook and dissolve about 7-10 minutes
  7. Add beef mixture and cook thoroughly until browned
  8. add ketchup, tomato sauce and worcestershire sauce
  9. add onions, continue cooking until onions are tender.
  10. add carrots and mix
  11. add corn and peas and combine turn heat to low and allow to simmer
  12. remove potatoes from heat, strain and blend with butter and milk to mashed potato consistency
  13. Spread a 1-2 inch layer along bottom of pan evenly
  14. Layer beef mixture on top of potato layer
  15. Cover beef mixture with second layer of potatoes
  16. use a spoon to create peaks on potato topping
  17. bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes.
  18. brush melted butter on top of potatoes and cook until golden brown
  19. remove from oven and allow to cool about 15 minutes
  20. Plate and enjoy (add sour cream or ketchup for topping)
