This dish is different than most. That's why I like it. I'm always looking for something new and I love cabbage. I think you will read this and think that can't be good but give it a try and you will be a believer.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage
  • 1 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 pound ground beef, or bacon, or both/ i use both
  • 1 large chopped onion
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper, i add a pinch over each cabbage
  • 2 cups vinegar and water

  • Step 1
    Cook the cabbage head in boiling water only long enough so that the leaves can be removed.Cool the leaves, cut part of the heavy vein from the leaf.
  • Step 2
    Cook the rice until about half done, drain and cool. Lay a leaf of cabbage flat, put 1 tablespoon cooked rice, some chopped onion, hamburger and/or bacon in the leaf and add salt and pepper to taste. Fold the leaf around the filling, turn upside down and place in a pan. When pan is about 3/4 full, add a liquid of vinegar and water. Bake in oven until done, about 1 hour.
