A Southern CA Pub is known for the best their chili by their patrons, so I asked and shock, shock, I was given their secret!
Beer!
So I added beer to my chili recipe and it turned out GREAT!

Ingredients

  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 2 c
    beef broth
  • 1
    onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 4 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 3 Tbsp
    cumin
  • 1 can(s)
    tomato paste, small
  • 1 7-3/4 can(s)
    "el pato" sauce with jalapenos
  • 1 14-1/2oz can(s)
    tomatoes, crushed
  • 1 15oz can(s)
    pinto beans, drained
  • 1 can(s)
    guinness beer

How to Make Guinness Chili

Step-by-Step

  1. Brown the meat and onions and garlic in a large skillet.
  2. Add beef broth, seasonings, tomatoes, El Pato and tomato paste.
  3. Simmer 30 minutes.
  4. Add can Guinness, Pinto beans, and simmer another 30 minutes.
  5. Garnish with:

    1 pint Sour Cream
    1 bunch Green Onion (chopped)
    8 oz package Shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese
