grilled pepper steak sandwich with cream cheese

On a busy day faced with my children's friends staying for dinner, I needed something quick and tasty to put on the table fast. I had these ingredients on hand but wanted to give it an extra something to make the sandwich special and the cream cheese did just that. Served warm , the cream cheese melts down into the meat and veggies and everyone enjoyed it.

Ingredients

  • 1-1 1/2 pounds shaved steak or top loin beef chuck sliced thinly
  • 1 - red pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 - green pepper,thinly sliced
  • 1/2 large sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 - garlic cloves, smashed and minced
  • - olive oil,enough to stir fry steak,peppers, and onions
  • - red wine to taste
  • - salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1 tablespoon teriyaki sauce
  • - cream cheese
  • 10 - multi grain folded flats

How To Make grilled pepper steak sandwich with cream cheese

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in skillet. Stir fry peppers,onions and garlic together until crisply cooked. Do not cook until soft unless desired. Remove from skillet to bowl.
  • Step 2
    Add meat and stir fry until cooked through, adding soy and teriyaki sauces,salt, pepper while cooking.
  • Step 3
    Add red wine when meat and vegetables are done, deglaze the skillet. Remove from heat.
  • Step 4
    Spread each multi grain flat fold with cream cheese and place meat and pepper combination on bun.
  • Step 5
    If desired, place each sandwich in heated skillet, panini grill, or press down with cast iron press and lightly grill till golden brown. Remove from grill or skillet.
  • Step 6
    Can be served warm or cold.
