strawberry, blackberry and oatmeal smoothie

Smoothies are sometimes given the cold shoulder. They are such a good way to get in fruits and protein, keeping you filled up till lunch. While dabbling around with a recipe, I came up with this. This is a bit on the thick side and used water instead of some of the ice because the fruit was frozen.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soy milk (i used low fat milk)
  • 1/4 cup prepared quick oatmeal
  • 1/2 - banana
  • 7 - frozen strawberries
  • 7 - frozen blackberries
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or splenda
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 5 - ice cubes

How To Make strawberry, blackberry and oatmeal smoothie

  • Step 1
    Place ice cubes in blender and pulse to break them up. Add strawberries, pulse, blackberries, pulse, add milk and oatmeal, pulse and add banana, water, vanilla and splenda. Blend till smooth. If smoothie is a bit too thick, add additional water to mixture and blend.
