mixed berry and apple oatmeal smoothie

After buying more apples than I could finish by myself, I decided to cut them up and freeze them along with fruit that I froze before it would go bad. Freezing your fruit is a great way to take advantage of sales, and if you drink smoothies like I do in the morning, it is a great way to thicken your smoothie and keep it cold as well.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup prepared oatmeal, cooled
  • 1/2 cup mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries and blackberries)
  • 1/4 cup raspberry flavored yogurt, low fat
  • 1/3 cup milk, 1%
  • 1/4 - apple, sliced and frozen (i had skin on)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 packages splenda
  • 1 tablespoon wheat germ- optional
  • 1 tablespoon flax- optional
  • - ice

How To Make mixed berry and apple oatmeal smoothie

  • Step 1
    Combine ingredients in a blender and pulse to begin to break down. If desired, add ice, a little at a time until you reach the desired consistency. I used about a cup to cup and a half of ice.
  • Step 2
    Note: You also use soy milk or almond milk in this. To omit milk, you can substitute with a cranberry/raspberry juice.
