This is my mom's recipe..she has been making this all her life,whenever there is a "cold brewing" of course leave the rum out for kiddies.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces milk
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 - egg yolk
  • 1 - shot of rum
  • - sugar to taste

How To Make el ponche ( spiked hot milk)

  • Step 1
    simmer milk with cinnamon covered as to let the flavors infuse.
  • Step 2
    in a mug, put in the yolk and vanilla
  • Step 3
    here comes the tricky part....with a spoon very slowly start putting in the warm milk as to NOT cook the egg ( temper)...after you have incorporated about 2-3 tablespoons by stirring...then discard the cinnamon and while stirring put in the rest of the milk....add the shot of yum (I mean rum)and sugar to taste. ENJOY and night-night you go.
