Organic "Raspberry Cool Aide"

I've been making organic herbal teas lately to help combat high cholesterol and menopause symptoms. I love hibiscus tea, but there was always something missing. So, just on instinct, I added allspice and star anise. Then it definitely needed some additional tartness, so I added the lemon. To my surprise, it tastes just like raspberry Koolaid! But with the Truvia, zero calories! Hibiscus is high in vitamin C, rich in antioxydants, reduces hot flashes, helps in weight loss, and is known to lower bad cholesterol and systolic blood pressure levels. And I've just made it taste like raspberries!

How To Make

  • 1
Place hibiscus, anise, and allspice in a tea pot or mason jar. NOTE: Get your hibiscus in bulk from a Latin market or online. Don't buy it in the little teabags unless you don't mind spending a fortune. I have found it for as little as $5 a pound and as much as $30 a pound online. Average online is around $15 a pound. It's dried, so it will keep a long time.

Add 4 cups hot water, and let steep for 20 minutes, then refrigerate 24 hours.
  • 3
Strain the tea into a jug, then add 4 cups cold water, the juice of the lemon, and sweeten to taste.
  • 4
Serve over ice, garnished with whatever you like. Maybe lemon or orange slices, or a toothpick of raspberries.
