Ingredients
- 4 teaspoons instant coffee (substitute instant espresso)
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 2 1/2 cups granulated sugar, or to taste
- 1 1/2 cups cold distilled water
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 750 milliliters (26 oz.) 94% alcohol
How To Make homemade tia maria

Step 1In a measuring cup, add instant coffee and boiling water; stir until granules are dissolved and set aside.

Step 2In a saucepan over medium heat, add sugar and cold water; stir until sugar is dissolved. Remove from the heat and let it sit for 15 minutes or until it gets to room temperature.

Step 3Add vanilla, coffee and alcohol to sugar mixture; stir very well and transfer to a liqueur decanter. Let it rest for 3 to 4 weeks before serving. Yields 6 cups
