How To Make strawberry pie 1952
-
Step 1Prepare pie crust: either, bake a pastry shell (traditional and tasty), or prepare a graham cracker, or oreo cookie pie shell -- your choice
-
Step 2Wash, de-stem, and cut three cups of berries in thick vertical slices (about 3 per berry) can also simply leave whole, or cut in half (vertically) to make them easier to distribute, and place them in the prepared pie shell.
-
Step 3Make Glaze: Crush 1 cup of fresh strawberries and cook (low boil) with the water for 5 minutes
-
Step 4Strain to remove the seeds
-
Step 5Put the cornstarch in 4 Tbsp cold water to blend before adding to hot juice
-
Step 6Combine the sugar, cornstarch, salt, and butter with the juice and cook for 3-5 minutes to thicken
-
Step 7Pour the glaze over the berries in the pie shell and set in fridge to cool for at least an hour.
-
Step 8Serve with whipped cream topped with more berries.
