southern bean pie
Old recipe my great grandmother brought over from England in the 1800s..that was revitalized with the Muslim community as an alternative to the sweet potato pie. . If you enjoy pumpkin or sweet potato pie you'll love this. Don't snub the bean lol its lovely. You can play with the cinnamon and nutmeg some to suit your taste. Great addition to the holiday menu

Ingredients
- 2 cups cooked navy beans (cans ok drain and rinsed)
- 1 stick butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 4 eggs
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 2 pie crust
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
How To Make southern bean pie

Step 1Mash beans .. I use a potato masher

Step 2Cream butter and add to beans mix well

Step 3Add flour cinnamon nutmeg and mix well

Step 4Add eggs mix well

Step 5Add sugar. Milk and vanilla mix well

Step 6Pour in to pricked crust and place in 400° oven 15 minutes

Step 7Reduce oven to 350° bake 30 minutes longer or until browned and set in center
