My Mama got this recipe from an Amish Lady. She lived close to some of them and they became friends.She made this when I was a little girl. It was one of my Father's favorite pies. I think I will make it over the holidays.Hope you like it.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 3/4 cup hot water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved water
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 9 large 9 inch single crust

How To Make my mama's shoefly pie

  • Step 1
    Combine Flour,brown sugar, and butter; making crumbs either by hand or using a pastry blender. Set aside 1/2 cup crumbs to put on top of the finished pie. Combine molasses, hot water, egg, and baking soda dissolved in water; mix well.Stir crumbs into liquid. Pour resulting mixture into pie crust and top with left over crumbs. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.
