How to Make Meringue
- Combine water, 2 Tbsp. sugar and cornstarch in saucepan. Cook over low heat until clear, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
- Beat egg whites, cream of tarter and salt in large mixing bowl until mixture is foamy. Add vanilla and gradually add 6 Tbsp. sugar; beating constantly until meringue forms soft peaks. Gradually add cornstarch mixture, beating until stiff. Spread over top of pie and seal to crust. Brown in oven.
