This is a Holiday favorite at our church that I make for the holiday pie sales, and it is loved....they tell me it is too pretty to eat but when they cut into it it is totally enjoyed....I get a lot of praises over this one....So do we, I am constantly tasting and mixing before I pour it into the shell. I get quite a few orders.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound british christmas mincemeat (jar) recipe
  • 1 - unbaked pie shell
  • 1 - top crust (lattice or leaves cut out)
  • 1 - egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon water, ice cold

  • Step 1
    Preheat over to 375* 30min Prepare crust place in 9 inch pie pan, pour mincemeat mixture into pie shell. https://www.justapinch.com/recipes/dessert/pie/british-christmas-mincemeat.html Separate egg yolk into small bowl with TBSP water and beat with fork.
  • Step 2
    Prepare top on a lightly floured lattice by cutting into strips or cut into leaves. Place on top in a nice directional pattern then lightly brush egg yolk and water mixture with a pastry brush.
  • Step 3
    Placed in oven and bake for 30 min. remove when crust is golden brown and cool on a rack.
