My husband's grandmother, Mona, worked for years making desserts at her sister's restaurant, Cafe South, in Milledgeville, Georgia. This is her pecan pie. So easy and so delicious! There's no corn syrup, and the vinegar cuts the sweet. It doesn't get any easier than this. Y'all enjoy!!

Blue Ribbon Recipe

What a delicious, easy pecan pie recipe! Your friends and family will think it took all day to make. The added vinegar to the pie really balances out the sweetness (you can't even taste it). Make this tasty pie at your next gathering and you'll get rave reviews.

  • 8 tablespoons butter (either salted/unsalted)
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 3 teaspoons white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup pecan pieces
  • 1 - unbaked pie shell

How To Make cafe south's pecan pie

  • Melted butter in a glass bowl.
    Step 1
Melt butter in a large glass mixing bowl. I just throw mine in the microwave for one minute.
  • Remaining ingredients added to the butter.
    Step 2
Then just add the rest of the ingredients in this order. Mixing quick and well after adding the eggs so they don't cook!
  • Pie baking in the oven.
    Step 3
Pour into pie shell and bake at 325 for 55 minutes.
  • Slice of pecan pie on a plate.
    Step 4
Cool on wire rack until completely cooled. This pie should cool fully before serving. I usually place in the fridge after its cooled.
