    unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1
  • 1 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 c
  • pinch
  • 1
    pastry for double-crust 8-inch pie

How to Make French Canadian Sugar Pie


  1. Preheat oven to 325 F.
  2. Mix butter and brown sugar. Stir in egg. Sift flour with salt and add to the sugar mixture; stirring to incorporate thoroughly.
  3. Add milk. Mix until smooth. Pour in bottom crust and set top crust in place, crimping edges and cutting a 1/2-inch hole in middle of top crust.
  4. Bake for 45 minutes, or until set. Remove and allow to completely cool on wire rack.
