unbaked deep dish pie crust
white granulated sugar
firmly packed dark brown sugar
cocoa powder, unsweetened
espresso powder, instant
salted butter, melted (if using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt to the batter)
pure vanilla extract
dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate (i like hershey's "special" or ghirardelli)
whipped cream for garnish (optional)
How to Make DECADENT DARK CHOCOLATE PECAN PIE
1Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and place unbaked crust (in pie pan) on a cookie sheet and set aside.
2In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs well.
3Add sugars, cocoa powder and espresso powder; mix thoroughly.
4Add flour, melted butter and vanilla extract; mix well.
5Fold in nuts and chocolate chips.
6Pour into crust and bake on middle rack for approximately 40 minutes, until golden brown and set.
7Remove from oven and let cool for 2 1/2 to 3 hours before serving. Garnish with whipped cream, if desired.
8No refrigeration needed.
