decadent dark chocolate pecan pie
Special dark chocolate, cocoa and espresso powder are the secret to the intense chocolate flavor in this pie. It's one of my favorite pie recipes that I've created. It's rich and delicious and sure to be a hit.

Ingredients
- 1 - unbaked deep dish pie crust
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup white granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder, unsweetened
- 1/2 teaspoon espresso powder, instant
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 cup salted butter, melted (if using unsalted butter, add a pinch of salt to the batter)
- 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips or chopped dark chocolate (i like hershey's "special" or ghirardelli)
- - whipped cream for garnish (optional)
How To Make decadent dark chocolate pecan pie

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and place unbaked crust (in pie pan) on a cookie sheet and set aside.

Step 2In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs well.

Step 3Add sugars, cocoa powder and espresso powder; mix thoroughly.

Step 4Add flour, melted butter and vanilla extract; mix well.

Step 5Fold in nuts and chocolate chips.

Step 6Pour into crust and bake on middle rack for approximately 40 minutes, until golden brown and set.

Step 7Remove from oven and let cool for 2 1/2 to 3 hours before serving. Garnish with whipped cream, if desired.

Step 8No refrigeration needed.
