aunt emma's basic cream pie
My Aunt used this recipe for every cream pie she made when she had the resturant and it is now the one I use when we want chocolate, bananna,butterscotch or coconut pie.

Ingredients
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons corn starch
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 3 - egg yokes
- 3 cups milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 - bottom crust for 8 or 9 " pie your recipe--baked and cooled
How To Make aunt emma's basic cream pie

Step 1Set aside the egg whites to make merangue using the recipe NO fAIL MERANGUE, or you can use your own recipe.

Step 2Mix together the sugar, corn starch, flour and egg yokes. Add the milk and cook together until thickened. Add vanilla and butter.

Step 3When finished thickening you can add either of the following coconut, chocolate, peanut butter or your choice. If you wanat to add fruit let the pudding cool then add banana's, or fruit of your choice. If you want to be a little more daring add 1 tsp instant coffee and about 1/2 cup chopped nuts for Coffee Nut Pie

Step 4To be really different, make a regular cream pie and cover with a cherry pie filling. This cream filling is very creamy and has an excellent flavor. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
