This recipe was given to me by my Great Grandmother. The way she made it I could never top, but that does not stop me from trying. Rest in peace Great Grandmother.

Ingredients

  • 1 - recipe 2 - crust pie pastry
  • 2 cups chedder cheese, grated
  • 6 cups peeled sliced apples
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 4 or 5 - crushed graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (opt.)
  • 2 tablespoons butter

How To Make american glory apple cheese pie

  • Step 1
    Prepare pie pastry, adding 1 cup cheddar cheese. Roll out on floured board.
  • Step 2
    Line deep 10 inch shell with pastry. Sprinkle apples with lemon juice.
  • Step 3
    Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Add apples, tossing lightly.
  • Step 4
    Sprinkle crumbs and nuts in pie shell Top with 1/2of the remaining cheese. Repeat layers of apples and cheese ending with apples.
  • Step 5
    Mound last layer of apples slightly in center, dot with butter.
  • Step 6
    Bake in a preheated 450 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees. Bake for 40 minutes longer.
