This is the best chocolate cream pie I have ever tasted. Recipe belonged to my 3rd. cousin's wife, they are now passed away. Enjoy!

    egg yolks
  • 1 large
    egg
  • 1 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1/3 c
    cocoa
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • dash
    of salt
  • 1/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract
  • CREAMY MERINGUE

  • 2 large
    egg whites
  • 1/4 c
    sugar
  • 1/8 tsp
    cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How to Make ALESE NIXON'S CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE

Step-by-Step

  1. BAKE CRUST FIRST. CAN USE GRAHAM CRACKER, IF DESIRED. ALESE USED A 9" DEEP DISH.
  2. MIX SUGAR, FLOUR AND COCOA IN EGGS AFTER THEY ARE BEATEN.
  3. ADD MILK AND SALT.
  4. COOK 10-12 MINUTES, OR UNTIL THICKENED. ADD MARGARINE AND VANILLA. SPOON INTO CRUST OF CHOICE.
  5. BEAT EGG WHITES AND CREAM OF TARTAR UNTIL FOAMY.
  6. ADD SUGAR, VERY SLOWLY. BEAT UNTIL VERY STIFF PEAKS FORM. STIR IN VANILLA.
  7. SPOON OVER PIE. BAKE AT 350 DEGREES UNTIL BROWN. SERVE WARM.
