This is the best chocolate cream pie I have ever tasted. Recipe belonged to my 3rd. cousin's wife, they are now passed away. Enjoy!

egg yolks
1 large
egg
1 1/2 c
milk
1/3 c
cocoa
1 1/2 c
sugar
dash
of salt
1/4 c
all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp
margarine
1 tsp
pure vanilla extract

CREAMY MERINGUE

2 large
egg whites
1/4 c
sugar
1/8 tsp
cream of tartar
1/2 tsp
pure vanilla extract

How to Make ALESE NIXON'S CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE

Step-by-Step

  • 1BAKE CRUST FIRST. CAN USE GRAHAM CRACKER, IF DESIRED. ALESE USED A 9" DEEP DISH.
  • 2MIX SUGAR, FLOUR AND COCOA IN EGGS AFTER THEY ARE BEATEN.
  • 3ADD MILK AND SALT.
  • 4COOK 10-12 MINUTES, OR UNTIL THICKENED. ADD MARGARINE AND VANILLA. SPOON INTO CRUST OF CHOICE.
  • 5BEAT EGG WHITES AND CREAM OF TARTAR UNTIL FOAMY.
  • 6ADD SUGAR, VERY SLOWLY. BEAT UNTIL VERY STIFF PEAKS FORM. STIR IN VANILLA.
  • 7SPOON OVER PIE. BAKE AT 350 DEGREES UNTIL BROWN. SERVE WARM.
