This is the best chocolate cream pie I have ever tasted. Recipe belonged to my 3rd. cousin's wife, they are now passed away. Enjoy!

  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • dash - of salt
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons margarine
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • CREAMY MERINGUE
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

  • Step 1
    BAKE CRUST FIRST. CAN USE GRAHAM CRACKER, IF DESIRED. ALESE USED A 9" DEEP DISH.
  • Step 2
    MIX SUGAR, FLOUR AND COCOA IN EGGS AFTER THEY ARE BEATEN.
  • Step 3
    ADD MILK AND SALT.
  • Step 4
    COOK 10-12 MINUTES, OR UNTIL THICKENED. ADD MARGARINE AND VANILLA. SPOON INTO CRUST OF CHOICE.
  • Step 5
    BEAT EGG WHITES AND CREAM OF TARTAR UNTIL FOAMY.
  • Step 6
    ADD SUGAR, VERY SLOWLY. BEAT UNTIL VERY STIFF PEAKS FORM. STIR IN VANILLA.
  • Step 7
    SPOON OVER PIE. BAKE AT 350 DEGREES UNTIL BROWN. SERVE WARM.
