school lunch peanut butter bars
This is the only recipe I have from my days teaching school at Saint Helen's and the Lunch Ladies.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup real butter
- 1 cup nutty peanut butter
- 1 large banana, mashed, may be added to the batter with the peanut butter, optional
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups old fashioned oatmeal or corn flakes or some of both
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips, mini, sprinkle and spread on hot bars then let cool, optional
How To Make school lunch peanut butter bars

Step 1Heat oven to 350^. Grease or spray a 9x13-inch baking pan; set aside. --- Combine flour, baking soda and salt, set aside.

Step 2Cream together in a large bowl the butter, peanut butter (and banana,if using) until smooth and blended add sugars and vanilla; beat in eggs. Add flour mixture and blend. Stir in oatmeal,stirring to blend well.

Step 3Spread batter into prepared pan Bake for 15 to 18 minutes. ]Let cool in pan on wire rack;then cut into squares. --- If desired you can frost or sprinkle with powdered sugar;or sprinkle with the chocolate chips let melt then spread on evenly while hot.
