penuche....brown sugar fudge
I made this for the first time this Christmas, I got the recipe off of facebook. I made 2 batches, one with and one without nuts due to several in the family with chocolate or nut allergies. Mom used to make a burnt sugar fudge, this is similar, but easier.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 2 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 3-4 cups sifted powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 cups coarse chopped pecans, optional
How To Make penuche....brown sugar fudge

Step 1Line a loaf pan with parchment paper.

Step 2Measure Brown Sugar, set aside

Step 3Sift powdered sugar, set aside.

Step 4Melt butter

Step 5Stir in Brown Sugar. Cook 2 minutes stirring constantly.

Step 6Slowly add in the milk. Stirring constantly bring to a boil.

Step 7Remove from heat cool 30-40 minutes. Stir in Vanilla extract

Step 8Add in powdered sugar 1/2 cup at a time. Keep adding powdered sugar until it reaches a ''fudgey consistency''. I use a hand mixer on low for this step.

Step 9Add nuts. Spoon into the loaf pan, cover and chill until firm. This freezes well.
