orange cranberry granola

This is the first granola we made from scratch, and have been making it ever since. It is so simple and delicious! Eat it plain, on yogurt or ice cream, or on a peanut butter sandwich (really!). It also makes a great gift!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1/4 cup canola oil
  • - zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 cup toasted wheat germ
  • 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds (or nut of your choice)
  • 2/3 cup dried cranberries

How To Make orange cranberry granola

  • Step 1
    Over low heat, mix first 7 ingredients until melted down a bit and combined.
  • Step 2
    In a bowl, mix wheat germ, oats, and nuts. Pour sugar mixture over and stir to coat. Spread on lightly greased cookie sheet, and bake at 300 degrees 40-45 minutes, stirring 3 times throughout cooking. Let cool, then toss in cranberries. Store in airtight container. Enjoy!
